Willow – Saille

Ahoy Beautiful,

We are in the thick of Spring.  When flowers are blooming and bees are buzzing.  The air smells sweet and the sun is close enough to tan our skin.  Yet the nights are cool enough to demand the extra blanket. The trees that once stood naked in the winter light, now are full of leaves and flowers.  The temperature is always perfect and our days are long enough.  At the pinnacle of spring we feel the Taurus energy telling us to relax and smell the flowers, after we do chores of course. Don’t dilly dally on chores, because we need time to lay under the Willow tree dreaming up more efficient and fun way!  Taurus is all about enjoyment of the daily.  I keep picturing Ferdinand the Bull smelling flowers.

Have you noticed that Willow trees seems to have more fun than the other trees?  Elegant long branches swinging and dancing with the winds.  Deeply rooted, the Willow reminds us: to bend and not to break.  Willows are perhaps as graceful as the goddess herself, full of women’s mysteries and wisdom.

Everywhere I turn this spring there seem to be new surprises and daily delight.  On our farm, if you look closely on the fence wood you can  normally find Bird’s Nest Fungus.  These small mushrooms look like little nest and have “eggs” nestled in each.  The nests grow with a 70 degree curve, making them the perfect launch pad for the “eggs”.  When the rains come, a drop can just fit into the nest splashing out the eggs which fling to new destinations.  The “eggs” which are technically called “Peridole” are actually spore masses, with purse caring a string (funicular cord) that has a sticky end (Hapeteron).  When the egg/peridole are splashed out of the nest/mushroom their purse opens and the sticky end of the string/hapeteron attaches to an object and hangs free releasing its spores.  Each peridole can have 30 million spores!  This gives the bird nest great advantage.  Luckily they are not poisonous and are charming to find!  Making the spring time easter egg hunt a daily delight.

This is what we should be doing on these lovely spring days, delighting in life.  Taking time to smell flowers and listen to the birds sing,  To pet a pussy willow and watch for rainbows.  Be thankful for all the chores you have and all the life that you get to maintain and enjoy.  The seeds are growing into a garden for you to nurture. The rains brought flowers you can now water and enjoy. The sun warms our days so that the shearing is underway.   Spring is here.  There is enough sun to do it all!

Take time to daydream and think before you act.  Measure twice, cut once.  You might be surprised what you come up with while watching a bee or naming the clouds.  You are innovative.

Don’t get lost in the daydream, for the fun is found in the doing.  Chores are Fun, if executed properly. You find enough energy to do it all and dream new things. When chores are fun, no longer they a stress .. for they have bloomed into a passion.  With energy and time, spring’s gifts.  You are Enough.

Maintenance of spring brings new rhythms, make sure to schedule time for joy.  SCHEDULE IT.  The flowers are beautiful and sweet.  The sky seems a forever shade of blue with big fluffy clouds painting pictures in the sky.  (As a sky worshiper, I can dig it!)  You can only appreciate all your hard work, if you take time off to enjoy it.  Life is not meant to be work.  Even bees take naps in flowers, birds fly for joy, and whales splash in play.  Daily life needs to include delight.  I will tell you where I always find delight.  Go look in a mirror.  Yes beautiful, it is YOU.  Thank you. You are Delight!

Blessed Be, Dian Mali.
